چکیده

A parametric camera model and calibration procedures are developed for an outdoor active camera system with pan, tilt and zoom control. Unlike traditional methods, active camera motion plays a key role in the calibration process, and no special laboratory setups are required. Intrinsic parameters are estimated automatically by fitting parametric models to the optic flow induced by rotating and zooming. No knowledge of 3D scene structure is needed. Extrinsic parameters are calculated by actively rotating the camera to sight a sparse set of surveyed landmarks over a virtual hemispherical field of view, yielding a wellconditioned pose estimation problem.

Algebraic Characteristic and Geometric Interpretation of Planar Motions and their Applications to Camera Self-calibration

Vision tasks with constrained camera motion have been discussed for a long time since Active Vision appeared. As an example, Camera under planar motion can often simplify the works, like camera self-calibration, scene reconstruction and robot self-location. In this paper, we provide detail information on the algebraic characteristic and geometric interpretation of planar motion. It does help to...

Calibration of inertial and vision systems as a prelude to multi-sensor fusion

Effective integration of vision and inertial sensing can be used to overcome the classical issue of inertial divergence in inertial systems over time. However, for such integration, two types of calibration need to be performed, namely, (a) calibration to estimate the intrinsic properties of the vision cameras, such as the focal length and lens distortion parameters, and (b) determination of th...

High-resolution Panoramic Movie Generation from Video Streams Acquired by an Omnidirectional Multi-camera System

Telepresence systems using an omnidirectional image sensor enable us to experience remote sites with rich sensation. An omnidirectional multi-camera system is more useful to acquire high-resolution omnidirectional images of outdoor scenes than a monocular camera system. However, exact calibration of the camera system is necessary to generate a panoramic movie. In this paper, we describe a panor...

Calibration of an Outdoor Distributed Camera Network with a 3D Point Cloud

Outdoor camera networks are becoming ubiquitous in critical urban areas of the largest cities around the world. Although current applications of camera networks are mostly tailored to video surveillance, recent research projects are exploiting their use to aid robotic systems in people-assisting tasks. Such systems require precise calibration of the internal and external parameters of the distr...
